Abbotsleigh Mews Bupa Care Home

Sidcup, Kent

Abbotsleigh Mews is a purpose built residential care home in Sidcup operated by Bupa. For over two decades Kestrel has partnered with Bupa across London and the South East, keeping its care homes fully heated and supplied with hot water while steadily decarbonising building-services infrastructure.

Water hygiene is also a critical aspect of our service, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of care home residents by maintaining safe and compliant water systems, that meet all UK water hygiene regulations.

Projects at Abbostsleigh Mews include:

  • Installation of new high-efficiency gas boiler plant and removal of failed CHP unit.

  • Design and installation of a new hybrid heating and hot water solution to reduce carbon. The system pairs air-source heat pumps (ASHPs) with the existing condensing boilers and upgraded low temperature heating and hot water circuits. ASHPs take care of the heating load, whilst the boilers handle peak hot water loads.

  • The hybrid system also includes a load management system to modulate usage in respect of the amount of energy that is available from the incoming electrical supply so as not to exceed the home’s existing electrical supply and not having to wait for costly infrastructure upgrades.

  • Water hygiene and legionella checks and system maintenance

  • Plant servicing and repairs

  • 24/7 365 day a year emergency call-out contract
